posted Jul 4, 2013, 10:09 AM by Eric Fleshood

Eric has produced a full-color, hardbound genealogy and history of the Fleshood family entitled Marvelous in Our Eyes. You can preview and order a copy here. The book is structured around the 25 adult grandchildren of Civil War veteran William Joseph Fleshhood and his wife Harriet Isabelle Buckley. William and Harriet had three children--Frank, Ferdy, and Bella--who survived to adulthood and they constitute the three main branches of the family tree. Those three children and their grandchildren are featured with biographical profiles. In most cases the profiles include a chart with information about the members of the immediate family unite an their spouses ancestry. More than 1,000 descendants of William and Harriet are included.

is one of the more addicting aspects of genealogy. Finding out that I was descended from slaves was a life-changing discovery. I recently watched the 1977 TV miniseries "Roots" for the first time. Aspects of the storyline were eerily similar to what I have discovered about my great-great grandparents John Wesley Gibson and Mary Francis Smith.
